Cloud Thread Must Be Stamped Before a Local Task May File
A numbered cloud thread must be stamped before a local task may file. Work at a local desk sits in a side tray marked notes until a duty window date-marks the card.
WASHINGTON - The Office of Cloud Threads said Saturday that a numbered cloud thread must be stamped before a local task may file. Work at a local desk is entered as notes.
Under Circular CT-8, a clerk at the window lays the local slip on a numbered thread card and stamps both. The task may issue only after the stamp is date-marked.
"The thread is the desk," said Mara Quill, counsel to the office.
Labs that keep work on a local machine may store those runs in a side tray marked notes. At one duty window, a staffer not authorized to speak said two packets from the morning tray arrived already stamped, each without a thread number.
Duty windows that issue tasks begin the cloud-thread rule on 21 July. The stamp stays at the same window.
