Evaluator Laptop Must Stay Open Overnight Before Training Run May Pace
An evaluator laptop must stay open overnight on a labeled desk before a training run may file as paced. Runs with the lid shut are entered as unpaced.
WASHINGTON - The Office of Frontier Pace said Saturday that before a training run may file as paced, an evaluator laptop must stay open overnight on a labeled desk. Runs that proceed with the lid shut are entered as unpaced.
Under Circular PF-1, the open lid is the pace. At the window a clerk chains the laptop open and clips a visitor badge to the bezel, and the run may issue only while the lid stays up.
"The open lid is the pace," said Paul Kenner, counsel to the office.
Labs that close the lid at the end of the shift may keep those runs in a side tray marked notes. At one alignment desk, a staffer not authorized to speak said two laptops from the morning window came back with the lids taped shut.
Duty windows that issue paced runs begin the overnight-lid rule on 2 December. The office said the same laptop will remain on the same desk.
