GENEVA - The Interlab Bureau of Score Authorship said Saturday it will post public-set benchmark results only in the name of a certified accompaniment harness, and will file the underlying model as non-scoring apparatus that may not appear on the board. Under circular SA-08-22, posted to the bureau docket the same day, the examinee of record is the harness. Weights and related files are inventoried as apparatus. An unassisted attempt is recorded as unaccompanied examination and returned ungraded, not failed, the circular said. "The examinee is the harness. The weights are apparatus. They do not sit the paper," a bureau spokesperson said. "An unaccompanied submission is not a failing mark. It is returned ungraded." After accompaniment became mandatory, certified harnesses on the public set were entered at 100 percent, the docket filing said. Industry sources said unaided runs on the same set had previously been posted near 30 percent. The posting rule takes effect Sept. 1.
