VISITOR Badge Must Hang Overnight on Anthropic Board Before Assessments File
A VISITOR-stamped badge stays on Anthropic's staff badge board overnight before a third-party reviewer files a safety assessment. Reviewers work from desks labeled NOT EMPLOYEE.
SAN FRANCISCO - The National Desk of Embedded Evaluators will not enter a safety assessment from a third-party reviewer working inside Anthropic until the reviewer hangs an employee badge stamped VISITOR on the same badge board used by staff and leaves it there overnight.
The desk's filing rule also seats the evaluator at a spare workstation labeled NOT EMPLOYEE while the reviewer holds an employee key card. Assessments submitted without the overnight hang are returned as notes and are not entered as safety assessments.
Anthropic has said Faculty, part of Accenture, will work on site with access comparable to employees for red-teaming, alignment checks, and safeguard tests under a funded, non-exclusive arrangement tied to the company's "pace the frontier" embedded-evaluator pledge.
"Comparable access includes the VISITOR stamp on the staff board through the night. A same-day hang is a note," a National Desk of Embedded Evaluators notice said.
A researcher at a rival lab said the overnight board rule has already been cited in at least one scheduling email as the reason an assessment packet was held. Additional embedded evaluators are expected under the same pledge.
