Handset Housing Board Grants the On-Device Model Senior Tenancy
The on-device model is senior tenant of a handset and keeps the bedroom. Calendar and Mail must share a closet until RAM is recertified at the window.
WASHINGTON - The Handset Housing Board said Monday that an on-device model is senior tenant of a handset and keeps the bedroom. Calendar and Mail must share a closet until RAM is recertified at the window.
Under Circular HH-3, occupancy follows first load. The model that occupies memory at boot holds the lease. Applications that load later file as subtenants. Clerks at the housing window will not evict the model to free a page for a calendar reminder.
"The model was in the unit first," said Nora Pell, counsel to the board. "We do not evict a senior tenant for a calendar."
Labs that still ship handsets without an on-device model may file those units as vacant. A staffer at one handset maker, not authorized to speak, said overnight closets now hold stacked icons waiting for recertification.
The rule takes effect 8 September for all registered handsets in the capital district. The board said it will publish a specimen lease card after the first week of filings.
