SAN FRANCISCO - The National Bureau of Neutral Depots will not seat Hub downloads once a chipmaker purchase agreement is logged until a brass plaque reading OTHER SILICON WELCOME hangs on the duty door overnight and three empty rival-chip trays sit stamped VACANT under the window, the bureau said Tuesday. Price-only packets come back as notes under a seating circular dated 3 September. NVIDIA Corp. agreed on 2-3 September 2026 to acquire Hugging Face for about $12.93 billion, including $11.9 billion to stockholders and up to about $1 billion in employee retention. NVIDIA said the Hub stays an open platform: developers still pick models, frameworks, clouds, inference providers, and computing platforms, and NVIDIA compute is not required. Close is expected in the first half of 2027, subject to regulatory approvals. A depot clerk who asked not to be named said price-only filings stack beside the trays until the plaque is photographed at dawn. A thin note from a cloud-broker newsletter said the same seating hold covers any Hub mirror that lists a chipmaker as controlling stockholder. "Seating will not clear until the plaque photograph and three VACANT stamps are filed," a bureau spokeswoman said.
